Loyalty

Loyalty: strong feeling of support or allegiance.

Loyalty is about people who stay true behind your back.

People are so willing to give their loyalty to big corporations, to money, to people who don’t truly know them or care for them. Yet, they can’t seem to stay loyal to those that care and give so much of themself to them.

The sport of bodybuilding is all about trust and loyalty. If you can’t trust your coach and be loyal to them, you do not belong in this sport. This sport is both mentally and physically taxing. You will be pushed to your limits in many facets. You will always need somebody in your corner. Somebody whose knowledge you trust and somebody who is always going to have your back.

it’s not a hobby; it’s a lifestyle
Bodybuilding is a lifestyle. If you want to compete you must commit to it. You must trust the process and be loyal to your plan.

You must make a solid commitment
If you can’t put in the time and the effort and commit to the sport, then you better forget it. When your coach lays out a plan for you you must be willing and able to follow every step. Question them to increase your own knowledge but never to question theirs. If you do that, you do not trust them and perhaps they aren’t the right fit for you.

It requires discipline
Bodybuilding requires a lot of discipline, drive, and determination. Your coach will always be there to guide and motivate you, but you must find that discipline within you. .

Trust must be there
Lee Labrada, a former professional bodybuilder, was quoted as saying, “I’ve made many good friends in bodybuilding, though there are few I’d trust to oil my back.” Staying loyal to your coach means you fully trust them. You listen to their guidance. You don’t go outside of your bodybuilding family with any issues you wish to discuss. Your coach is your number one source of information and you trust their eyes and their eyes alone. They have your best interests in mind and they will always guide you properly. After all, as their athlete you represent them when you walk proudly on stage.

We are so happy that most of our clients have given us all of their loyalty and trust. That is all we need to be a successful team. With that, we can work through any problems. Without that, we have nothing.

The Leg Press Debate

The Leg Press has caused more debate than any other piece of equiptment that I know of. Some will say put your legs low and close to focus on quads and high and wide for glutes and hamstrings. Some will have other similar advice, BUT the truth is: foot position does NOT matter. The leg press is a quad dominant movement.

Now, hamstrings and glutes can be engaged but truth is its the quads that get the most benefit here. Dr. Jim Stoppani has studied this extensively. The results prove with scientific, not bro science, that the muscle that gets the most benefit regardless of foot position is the quadricep.

To be more specific, the leg press targets the “tear drop” portion of this group of 4 muscles. If you want to target the sweep, the squat rules.

No matter what evidence shows, there will alwys be those that don’t believe. However, the proof is the pictures. Its in the results that we get with our clients.

And we have the leg king himself at Iron Misfitz. Chris will grow your legs, get them slimmer, maybe a little of both. Whatever your goal he will make sure you reach it.

If you have more questions about this or any topic, email us at ironmisfitztraining@gmail.com .

Iron guy blog……

Just because your hands are covering your ears doesn’t mean you can’t hear your body screaming.

Stubborn as we bodybuilders are, even we need to listen once and a while. As I sit here in the ICU I’m reminded of all the noise it was making. You will hear a light rumbling, maybe like hunger pains in your head. You don’t give it a second thought because, hey you need gainz and summer is right around the corner, right?

. 2nd noise is usually in the form of changing sleep patterns or over sleeping. Being creatures of habit this can’t be ignored. However, we just suck it up and maybe train on.

3rd noise is the loud thunder you already knew was coming. You can’t ignore this one. You will make excuses and maybe say it was the wind. This noise will manifest itself in your inability to put up your normal numbers. Frustrated from that you start to lack on training. Maybe you change your diet and add supplements you shouldn’t take to make up for all that noise.

Finally its here the 4th noise. The one you have been not thinking about because you silenced 3 already. The 4th unfortunately, for myself and anyone else, is shut down: system overload, TILT, game over. Now your noise is an adaptation of your stubbedness. It shuts you down. I an currently shut down but us misfitz never say die. I will make sure, as I reboot, I add extra virus protection, extra sound readers, and a stronger better state of the art gainz-o- meter.

We can learn from ourselves if we only listen to the body's noise. The algorithm of what it needs.

Will lifting make you bulky?

The fast answer, NO! Let me explain. To get “bulky” you have to want to be bulky. You most eat perfectly and in a surplus. To be honest women who have a particularly large amount of muscle are usually on performance enhancing drugs too.

most women say. “I want to be toned”. There is no such thing to be honest. What you want is lean muscle. That’s always the goal. Tight and “toned” bodies are simply bodies that have lean muscle and minimal body fat.

if that’s your goal iron Misfitz has you covered. Lets get you in for a consultation ASAP!

The truth about competing

Competing in bodybuilding is one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made in my life. It has nothing to do with the physical aspect believe it or not. I mean sure I love looking “stage ready” who wouldn’t. But it’s so much more than that.

i had an interesting conversation with a teammate last night. About stage. About the process. About the possibility of getting on stage with a teammate and friend.

Over the years I have competed amongst some amazing woman. Many of times standing right next to a friend or teammate on stage. It was never me be her. Its always been me vs. me. I know, I know. How corny, right? But it’s 💯 truth.

You see this world of bodybuilding can seem overwhelming large at times but the reality is it’s tiny. Here in the North East I cant go to a show, competing or not, and not see at least ten people who I consider friends. Some to compete. Some to support others.

My favorite part? This community is tiny and mighty. We are all there to support one another. We all get off stage and win, lose, or draw we hug our friends. Hug our teammates and our coach.

Joey Swoll once said “bodybuilders are just broken people putting themselves back together one rep at a time” and truer words have never been spoken.

You have to go to a dark place to get competition ready. A place inside you that most people fear. You face many demons along the way.

When you get on stage whether the person next you is stranger or a best friend, one thing is true: you know them. You know them because part of them is part of you. We share a common ground. A relentless drive for perfection. A next level passion for hard work and perhaps a little bit of sadistic energy. That longing for a physical suffering that will maybe mask some other hurt in our lives.

Through our self doubt on our worst days and our contagious confidence on our best, we are one and that my Misfitz is what sets us apart. That’s what makes us special. That’s the real prize on show day.

love 💕 and light ❤️

The struggle is real

“you wake up every morning to fight the same demons that left you so tired the day before and that my friend is bravery”

Demons. . We all have them. Some of us fight them. Some of us accept them. My struggle with eating, over exercising, and extreme body dysmorphia are demons that I accept that I will have to fight for the rest of my life and every damn day is a battle.

I cant count how many days I have cried over my reflection. I don’t see my own reflection clearly. I see an obese little girl who doesn’t deserve to eat I see a girl who needs two more hours on the stairs if I am going to eat my egg whites I see somebody who can never work hard enough to satisfy my mind.

You may be asking yourself at this point “why is she sharing all of this? She’s a trainer she’s supposed to inspire us!”

If that’s what’s on your mind I can’t say I blame you. This is a very uncomfortable conversation to have with anybody let alone publicly on a blog But it’s my truth. And a very wise man, thanks Coachtopher, reminded me that my story may not just inspire but save somebody.

I struggle every day. Every time I have a meal it’s a battle. It’s me vs me. And it’s hard. Its unexplainably hard. It has brought me to tears many times. Yes, I am that weirdo who cries while she eats. Knowing what I need to do to get to my stage goals but fearing what that food can do to me. Many people are probably laughing by now or are at least very confused. That’s okay. I wish not for everyone to understand. Hell, I wish nobody understood. But I know some people do and for you I share this story. For you I fight. If i can fight this, you can too.

You have a friend in me You have an allie. You have someone who understands and will hold your hand and cry with you. (I maybe cry a lot, right Deszie?)

You’re not alone and misfit, officially or not, I am here for you. because We all have a little misfit in us.

Show Weekend Jitters

This weekend I am competing in my first OCB bodybuilding show. This is the culmination of weeks of hard work, dieting, and maybe a little too much cardio. I wish I could say that I feel confident and happy, but I do not lie!!!

I am scared. I am nervous. I am feeling like this physique is not quite good enough. But I am proud. Never satisfied, but proud of how far I have been able to come. I had to overcome a lot of obstacles to make it this far. I don’t want to focus on the negative so I will not get into details but the past few years have just not been easy.

However, just like I mentioned in the last post. The Power of Your Mind is just incredible. Through everything that has been thrown at me or the team, we have fought. I may not be where I want to be yet but I am not giving up. I am going to continue to fight. I am going to continue to make improvements and build the body that I want.

I am so grateful to Team Misfitz. Deszie, Roxy, Paulie, and of course Chris have been with me every step of the way. This weekend, so far, has been filled with mostly laughs and fun. It wouldn’t be me if it didn’t also include some doubts and maybe a few tears but we are going to show up tomorrow and see what happens.

The Power of Your Mind

Your mind if your most powerful assest. Henry Ford once said, “Whether you believe you can or you believe you can’t—-you’re right”. One of the first rules you will learn at Iron Misfitz is that can’t does not exist.

It is often said that fitness is a state of mind but not many people understand what that means. It’s the ablility to keep going, even when you’re tired. Its digging deeper and giving your all to accomplish a goal. The first time I trained for a marathon I learned this lesson quickly. Having had completed many half marathons and even more 5 & 10k’s I thought “whats a few more miles?”. How silly I was!! Those “few more miles” are everything. I started to think I had taken on more than I could accomplish. But then a friend, a marathon runner, told me. “When your legs get tired run with your heart.”

You see your body will want to quit at least 10 times before your mind will. You have to use your thoughts to get you to the finish line.

This same mindset can be used for any goal. You tell us your goals, give us your all, and use that power of your mind and we promise we will help you achieve anything!

Iron Misfitz Do NOT quit!!!

It all began with an idea….

It all began with an idea…………

Chris started Iron Misfitz in the midst of the global health pandemic. He needed to workout for his physical and mental health and he knew others would as well.

He quickly started selling training space to those in need of a place to release their stress and stay physically fit.

And it has only grown since then.

Training people to become the best they can be is one of his passions. He loves helping people realize they can do so much more than they think. He has helped countless people reach a variety of goals and strives to do that with each new client he meets.

He met Tracy when they both competed on the same team in the NPC. Both avid bodybuilders who love to test their limits, they knew they’d make a great team and be able to help more people if they joined forces. She brings a wealth of exeperience, multiple specialized certifications, and a lot of energy to the studio.

Iron Misfitz Training is unlike any other facility you may have visited. The trainers become family. The gym becomes “home”.

Each week we will be posting a blog with fitness, wellness, or nutrition advice. We hope our current memebers will find this helpful and we hope that those that visit our site will be inspired to visit and see what we have to offer.

Keep an eye out because our first tip is coming soon!!
